South West Assessment and Training offer assessment for commercial gas installations and appliances.
Training and assessment is available for pipework installation, testing and purging, industrial heating appliances and commercial catering appliances.
To ensure candidates have the relevant knowledge, understanding and skills to competently work on industrial/commercial gas installations.
Anyone who intends to work on industrial/commercial gas installations.
Any operatives undertaking the individual appliance assessments must hold an appropriate industrial/commercial core gas safety qualification or relevant changeover qualification (see below for these assessments).
For those who do not hold the relevant core gas safety qualifications South West Assessment and Training offer a Managed Learning Programme Gas course for new entrants.
Where entry requirements are met, training is available but not mandatory.
The following commercial/industrial gas assessments are available;
PLEASE NOTE: Either the relevant core assessment or a changeover assessment must be completed by the operative prior to taking any other commercial assessment.

Practical tasks, written and multiple-choice examination.
Candidates who successfully complete the assessment(s) will be certificated under the ACS scheme for the appropriate installations/appliances for which they have been assessed.
It is an open book assessment and it is therefore highly recommended that candidates undertaking it have an up-to-date gas publication.
