This qualification has been designed alongside CIPHE and the Heat Pump Association with the objective of ensuring delegates are up-skilled to the requirements for low temperature heating systems, particularly for Heat Pumps. This Level 3 qualification will allow successful delegates to demonstrate their knowledge and understand the need and requirements for designing and installing low temperature heating and hot water systems in dwellings.
To provide the knowledge and understanding required to design low temperature heating systems in accordance with Part L of the Building Regulations.
This qualification is required in order to undertake the heat pump installer's course, although it applies to all heating systems, supporting Building Regulations' move to Low Temperature for the design of all new heating systems.
Heating engineers and heating system designers.
The qualification is open to anyone in the heating industry, who can prove pre-existing knowledge and competence in heating systems, via qualifications (N/SVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent), or experience installing wet central heating systems, evidenced with membership of a relevant Competent Person's Scheme (e.g. GasSafe OFTEC, MCS or HETAS).
The training course covers the following:
Two to three days
Classroom-based
On-line examination and design scenarios
Candidates who successfully complete the assessment will receive a LCL Awards Level 3 certificate in Low Temperature Heating and Hot Water Systems in Dwellings.
