The course is aimed at installers who have entered the industry either through a short duration gas course, plumbing course or have no experience or qualifications in the area of heating system design.
It is designed to give a good level of understanding which will allow the operative to design and specify basic domestic heating systems and size hot water storage cylinders.
The course will also act as a stepping stone for operatives who wish to go on and complete the Institute of Domestic Heating & Environmental Engineers (IDHEE) full diploma course.
This LCL Awards foundation course is accepted by IDHEE as a unit credit and will save 2 days attendance on the full diploma course.
This is a foundation course aimed at the basics for the average domestic system. Candidates wishing to progress to more advanced levels should apply for the IDHEE diploma course.

Heating installers who have little or no experience or qualifications in the area of heating system design
There are no entry/pre-requisite requirements to undertaking this course. However a knowledge of plumbing and heating systems will be beneficial.

Multiple choice question paper and property heat loss exercise
Candidates who successfully complete the assessment will receive an LCL Awards Foundation Certificate in Basic Heating and Hot Water System Design and Specification.
Candidates will be provided with a training pack.
