This qualification covers the understanding and practical application of BS 5839-1 with regards to the inspection, servicing, commissioning, and handover of fire detection and alarm systems.
BS 5839-1 is a code of practice for system design, installation, commissioning and maintenance and is a standard used by fire authorities and building control officers.
Supported by the Fire and Security Association (FSA), this qualification provides knowledge and practical skills relevant to fire detection and alarm systems, including health and safety, testing, reducing false alarms, commissioning and handing over systems to the end user and the periodic inspection and servicing requirements.
Anyone wishing to design, install, commission or maintain a fire alarm or protection system.
There are no formal entry requirements to undertaking this course, although course delegates must be at least 18 years old. It is highly recommended that course delegates have an understanding of basic electric principles and wiring practice.

Three Days
Theory and practical workshop
Practical tasks and online open-book multiple-choice exam
Candidates will receive an EAL Level 3 certificate in the Commissioning, Handover and Servicing of Fire Detection and Alarm Systems to BS5839-1
