Installation and Commissioning of LPG Gas Storage Vessels and Controls (VESLP2)

Introduction

This course covers the installation and commissioning of LPG gas storage vessels and controls (Single LPG Supply) with up to and including 63mm pipework.

Tests gas safety competence in gas storage vessel connections, controls and safety requirements, PE electro fusion jointing, sizing external above and below ground pipework.

Where multiple gas supplies are to single dwellings and installation volume and pipe size is within scope of BS 6891 tests for tightness within BS 6891 may be applied. Operatives involved in installing gas supplies above scope of volumes/pipe sizes within BS 6891 will, in addition, need the TPCP1 qualfication.

Course objectives/key benefits

Covers sizing of external above ground and unjointed buried below ground pipework of over 0.1 m3 in volume for multiple gas supplies.

Who is the course aimed at?

Anyone involved in or wanting to become involved in the installation and commissioning of LPG gas storage vessels and controls (Single LPG Supply) with up to and including 63mm Pipework

PLEASE NOTE: For anyone involved in or wanting to become involved in the installation and commissioning of LPG gas storage vessels and controls (Single LPG Supply) only up to and including 32mm Pipework, we also offer the VESLP1 assessment.

Entry requirements/pre-requisites

Candidates will need to have either successfully completed the core LPG assessment (CCLP1), or conversion from natural gas to LPG assessment, as well as the VESLP1 assessment or be able to provide sufficient evidence that they have passed this assessment at another college or assessment centre.

Candidates will need to be able to be able to carry out electro-fusion welding. For anyone who has never undertaken this area of work, South West Assessment and Training also offer electro-fusion welding training

Assessment

Practical assessment and multiple choice question paper.

Course Outcome/Qualification

Candidates who successfully complete the assessment will be certificated under the ACS scheme for the installation and commissioning of LPG gas storage vessels and controls (Single LPG Supply) with up to and including 63mm Pipework.

Materials Required

It is an open book assessment and it is therefore highly recommended that candidates undertaking it have an up-to-date gas publication.
