BPEC Unvented Domestic Hot Water Reassessment
Introduction
Unvented hot water is one of the fastest growing sectors of the U.K. Unvented systems are fed directly from the cold water mains supply and offer a number of benefits compared to conventional systems, such as;
- Higher pressures and flow rates at all hot taps
- Balanced hot and cold supplies
- No special terminal fittings required.
Course Objectives/Key Benefits
The course enables candidates who have already held an unvented hot water qualification in the past to renew their qualification and continue to install, commission and maintain unvented hot water cylinders (or any mains fed appliance with a storage capacity of over 15 litres) to self-certify their work in accordance with Part G3 of the Building Regulations.
Who is the course aimed at?
The course is aimed at individuals who already hold the qualification but who need to renew it.
Please note: The previous qualification can have been taken at any time in the past.
Entry Requirements/Pre-requisites
Evidence of the existing qualification must be provided by way of a certificate or their operative's card.

- System design
- Installation, commissioning and servicing unvented hot water cylinders
- Fault finding on unvented hot water cylinders
- Understanding legislation surrounding unvented hot water cylinder installations
- How to become registered as an unvented hot water operative

Course Outcome/Qualification
Candidates who successfully complete the assessment will receive a BPEC certificate of competence.
This will enable them to join an appropriate competent persons scheme and self-certify the installation and commissioning of unvented hot water cylinders exceeding 15 litres of storage capacity.
