The SWAAT Team

The South West Assessment and Training team comprise hard-working and highly intelligent staff members (allegedly!).

With a range of skills and knowledge and a wealth of experience in the plumbing, heating, electrical, renewable energy and refrigeration industries the team at SWAAT can help establish and develop the key areas needed to work within these industries.

So, let's meet the SWAAT. team...

MIKE

MikeWith over 40 years experience in the plumbing, heating and refrigeration industries Mike is well aware of how the work-place has evolved over the years and the need for updating key skills and knowledge. Having run the successful company 'Balix' in London, Mike moved to Cornwall in the 1980's and worked for several years as a trainer and assessor at a local college. Mike started South West Assessment and Training in 2005 and has never looked back...

SallySALLY

Mike's daughter Sally has a wealth of experience in the heating and electrical industries due to her being Mike's right hand man, or rather woman, when he ran his company 'Balix'. Sally was responsible for the majority of the electrical work that was undertaken as well as assisting in central heating installs and repairs. She has since turned her skills to the refrigeration industry, chiefly heat pumps and air conditioning, and is now South West Assessment and Training's undisputed 'Queen of Renewable Energies' having installed a number of solar domestic hot water and photo-voltaic systems.

KevKEV

Our undisputed 'King of Combis' is an experienced gas service and breakdown engineer who has found his 'niche' in training. Happy to share his wealth of knowledge and experience with whoever will listen to him, Kev has proven to be an invaluable key player in the company, running many of the courses we offer including gas, OFTEC oil, Water Regulations, Unvented Hot Water, Solar Hot Water and Basic Electrics.

ClaireCLAIRE

Along with our newest member of staff, Vicky, Claire has been a 'diamond find'! Employed through an apprentice scheme Claire demonstrates all that is good about youth in the workplace, and is an example of why young people should be given every opportunity. She has already mastered our chaotic paperwork system and has her sights set firmly on managing the SWAAT office - and good luck to her!

TracyTRACY
'The girl on the front line' Tracy is usually the first person people meet when they step into the SWAAT office and upon meeting her it is not difficult to see why. Her infectious humour, great personality and swift efficiency ensures that people are provided with accurate information and guidance to enable them to make the right decisions about which courses they need to undertake.

VickyVICKY

As our newest member of staff, Vicky, has had a lot to live up to, but live up to it she has! With her feet running as soon as she arrived in the SWAAT office, Vicky has mastered all of her required tasks with so much ease we keep forgetting that she has only been with us a short time! Welcome to SWAAT Vicky!

Paul

PAUL
Paul is SWAAT's Facilities Manager and is solely responsible for ensuring that everything is set up for the day-to-day running of the centre. He has also become our very own in-house PAT tester. Paul is always on hand to assist with any problems candidates have regarding the building and equipment.
