17TH EDITION WIRING REGULATIONS (BS7671) - ONE DAY UPDATE

INTRODUCTION

From July 2008, electrical work must comply with the new 17th Edition Wiring Regulations.

This new fast-track City & Guilds course is available for people who have already completed 16th Edition training (2381 candidates not 2380).

There is also a full 17th Edition electrical course for those who haven’t.

COURSE OBJECTIVES/KEY BENEFITS

To update existing knowledge and understanding of the 17th Edition electrical wiring regulations (BS7671:2008).

WHO IS THE COURSE AIMED AT?

Anyone who has already completed 16th Edition training (2381 candidates not 2380), 2330 Level 3 in Installation or Maintenance, or 2360 electrical installation Part 2 from January 2004 onwards.

For anyone who has holds a City and Guilds 2380 certificate or has never undertaken the required qualification (i.e. a new entrant to the industry), South West Assessment and Training offer a full 17th Edition electrical course.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS/PRE-REQUISITES

Candidates must hold a City and Guilds 2381 certificate since June 2001.

* Protection for safety
* Selection and erection of equipment
* Inspection and testing
* Special installations or locations

COURSE DURATION

One day (including assessment).

Theory

ASSESSMENT

Multiple-choice computer City and Guilds GOLA on-line examination.

COURSE OUTCOME/QUALIFICATION

Candidates who successfully complete the assessment will receive a City and Guilds certificate of competence and will also be able to carry out work in accordance with the scope of this course.

At the end of the course candidates will be aware of most of the requirements of the relevant British Standard as all of the most recent changes in the regulations as specified by the IEE. The qualification is also required by most employers within the industry.

It is also a requirement to become Part P registered with some Registration Bodies (PLEASE NOTE: This qualification on its own does not make any successful candidates Part P qualified/registered.).
