Mobile Aluminium Access Scaffold Towers
Introduction
The use of mobile aluminium access towers requires a high level of safety. SWAAT are able to provide all delegates with a better understanding of the safety requirements of using these access towers as well as a safer way of erecting, dismantling and using them.
Our instructor is a former PASMA instructor and therefore has a high knowledge of both the dangers and good practices of using mobile aluminium access scaffold towers.
Course Objectives/Key Benefits
The aim and objective is for each person successfully completing the course to be able to safely, correctly and competently erect, alter, tie-in, use, move, inspect and dismantle prefabricated aluminum and fibre-glass mobile access towers in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, current regulations and accepted approved methods. It also aims to provide an understanding of current relevant legislation and regulations regarding mobile access towers.
Who is the course aimed at?
Aimed at anyone either involved in or intending to be involved in the erection, dismantling of, alteration of, inspection of or carrying out work from mobile aluminum access towers.
Entry Requirements/Pre-requisites
All candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have no physical disabilities that would preclude them from being considered competent in the erection, alteration or dismantling of or working from mobile aluminum access towers. Candidates should also have a head for heights!
Course content
* To know and understand the specific legal duties under the Work at Height Regulations which apply to them as an individual
* To understand who controls their activity and the lines of communication to use
* To understand the principles of fall protection that the Regulations require to be used
* To be able to recognise safe and unsafe situations / activities
* To understand how to deal with the hazards associated with the task allocated to them
* To have adequate training in the correct use and limitations of any work equipment allocated to them for the task
* To understand the need for and the ability to check the adequacy of the safety equipment allocated to them
* If that equipment has been issued to them on a personal basis, an understanding of the correct procedure for storage, maintenance and inspection
* To understand safe procedures of work and state the correct procedure for the task, the emergency (including rescue) procedures in place for the work and their role in it
* To know the procedure for reporting any defects, hazards or unsafe procedures detected.

Course Outcome/Qualification
Candidates who successfully complete the assessment will receive a SWAAT certificate of competence and proof of training.
