OFTEC 50 - INTRODUCTION TO DOMESTIC OIL FIRED APPLIANCES

 

INTRODUCTION

This is a practical course designed for operatives lacking or with no experience of domestic oil installations. This course is designed to give more intensive and detailed practical training than the standard courses, which are aimed at experienced operatives.

As part of the course the candidate will reach the required standard to enable them to undertake the standard assessments.

The main aim of the course is to ensure that the operative has a solid background and enough practical knowledge in oil to perform the everyday task of competent oil operatives.

*Steel and thermoplastic oil storage (more than 3500 litres)
*Constructional standards
*Tank fittings
*Fuel feed pipe work
*System design including Part L1 of the Building Regulations
*Thermostatic controls
*Gauges and overfill alarms
*Oil contamination problems
*Maintenance of boilers
*Oil burners
*Pipework
*British Standards
*Ventilation
*Flues
*Commissioning domestic oil boilers
*Energy conservation

Recommendation for assessment under OFTEC. To enable candidates to undertake the OFTEC 101, 102, 105 and 600A assessments.

PRE-REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATION

Candidates should have experience of plumbing.
