OFTEC 105e - Installation of Domestic Pressure Jet Oil-fired Appliances

Introduction

This is a practical course designed for experienced operatives. This course is designed to provide operatives with an up-to-date refreshment of regulations and the health and safety aspects of installing domestic pressure jet oil fired heating appliances and tanks.

Course Objectives/Key Benefits

The main area of this course is to ensure that the operative has a solid background and enough practical knowledge in oil to perform the everyday tasks of a competent oil operative.

Who is the course aimed at?

Any experienced oil operatives, or plumbers wishing to undertake oil work.

For anyone new to the oil industry or, who feels they need to update their skills they will need to undertake the OFT50 training course.

Entry Requirements/Pre-requisites

Candidates should have competent plumbing skills and a knowledge and understanding of the domestic oil industry.

* Codes of practice
* Building Regulations
* Types of oil and their identification
* Steel and thermoplastic oil storage (more than 3500 litres)
* Constructional standards
* Tank fittings
* Fuel feed pipe work
* System design including Part L1 of the Building Regulations
* Thermostatic controls
* Gauges and overfill alarms
* Oil contamination problems
* British Standards
* Ventilation
* Flues
* Energy conservation

PLEASE NOTE: Pipework and fire valves are no longer covered by the OFTEC 105E qualification. These elements are part of the OFTEC 600A qualification.

Course Duration

One day training is available for OFTEC 105E.

One day should be sufficient to complete the OFTEC 105E assessment (in addition to any training undertaken).

Course Outcome/Qualification

Candidates who successfully complete the assessment will be eligible to join the OFTEC competent persons scheme.
