AUGUST 2008 NEWSLETTER
S.W.A.A.T. CHARITY OPEN DAY 2008
The first ever S.W.A.A.T. Charity Open Day was held on Saturday 9th August and proved to be a big success.
Over £1000 was raised for the local charity, Ellie's Haven, a local charity aiming to build a non-medical holiday haven for the children of Devon and Cornwall who have life limiting disorders, and their families.
The day was well supported by manufacturers and companies including, Testo, Megger, Vaillant, Ken Russell Home Improvement Services, Liskeard, Polypipe, Baxi, Firebird UK
We were also pleased to welcome old friends and new faces alike and would especially like to thank Ben Bradshaw and Bill Cummins of the IPHE, Richard Bone, Antony Murray, Sean Smith, Phil of Delta Plumbing St Austell, Paul Parkinson and Barry Matthews, amongst others for giving up their time to support us.
The children's entertainment provided by Emazdad was very popular with both children and adults alike and provided a welcome relief from the wet weather conditions outside.
Sally, assisted by daughter, Jess, laid on some very tasty burgers and bacon rolls, as well as giving people a chance to view the latest addition to S.W.A.A.T.'s training facilities - a fully equipped catering van for the CMC commercial mobile catering assessment.
A Gas Industry Unsafe Situations quiz was held with entrants having to correctly identify faults with gas installations and determining under what category they should be classified, if the faults were unable to be rectified. This was won by Dave Chapman of Roche who gained a Viessmann Goodie Bag for his efforts.
The bumper charity prize raffle finished off a very enjoyable day and the prize winners were as follows;
Generous donations were also made to Ellie's Haven by Mr Barry Stagg Heating Services, Laurie Cleaves, Terry Callendar, Paul Parkinson Gas Services and Richard Bone.
ACS GAS ASSESSMENTS M.O.T.
ACS gas assessments can now be taken up to 6 months before they are due to run out, and the certificates will still run until their original expiry dates.
This is to allow operatives to book in to their local centres with the hope that they won't have to wait for weeks on end until the next available date due to high demands. Contact S.W.A.A.T. for further details.
