BPEC Foundation Level Gas Course

Introduction

An in-depth course designed for new entrants to the gas industry (categories 2 and 3) to meet the core ACS assessment requirements.

We offer;

First class technical training facilities where trainees can develop their installation and/or maintenance skills and knowledge in realistic domestic property simulations.

A full range of current and latest design of gas and electrical appliances, systems, controls and equipment.

Training and assessment to national standards - our centre is approved by BPEC, CITB, APHC and City and Guilds/Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) to offer a range of gas installation and maintenance NVQ/SNVQ qualifications.

A network of approved assessors who ensure trainees demonstrate competence throughout the required range of assessment criteria demanded by Awarding Bodies.

Who is the course aimed at?

New entrants with no previous qualifications, but experience of working supervised within the gas industry, to enable them to meet the core ACS assessment requirements.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates wishing to undertake this course must be able to provide evidence that they have been working under supervision within the gas industry for a minimum of six months. This can be in the form of a letter from their employer.

Entry Requirements/Pre-requisites

Candidates need no previous qualifications, but should either be working or have worked under supervision within the gas industry and gained practical experience. Candidates will need to have practical work evidence, carried out during the course of their work, signed by a Gas Safe Registered practicing operative, in order to fulfill the criteria of putting together a portfolio of evidence.

Candidates will also need an up-to-date Viper Book (available from our office on 01579 348544), as well as a BPEC Foundation Level Gas Portfolio, available directly from BPEC on 0845 644 6558. Only upon successful completion of the Foundation Gas Course will candidates be able to proceed to undertake the ACS assessment(s) and any add-ons.

Course Duration

Ten days.

This consists of five days at the South West Assessment and Training centre in Liskeard, Cornwall, ten working days gathering evidence with a Gas Safe Registered operative (which must be organised by the candidate), and then a further five days back at the South West Assessment and Training centre in Liskeard, Cornwall.

Course Outcome/Qualification
