CITB F-Gas Refrigerant Handling
Introduction
This qualification is accredited by CITB and is designed to enable refrigeration engineers to meet legal requirements in relation to the qualifications required to work with Fluorinated Greenhouse Gasses, otherwise know as F-Gasses. The F-Gas Regulations have been put in place by DEFRA to help EC countries meet the Kyoto protocol targets.
If you work on, or service refrigeration equipment, under the new EC Regulation 842/2006, you must hold this award. The closing date for all engineers to have had obtained this qualification was 4th July 2011.
Course Objectives/Key Benefits
To ensure that anyone working with Fluorinated Greenhouse Gasses are able to demonstrate an understanding of the legal and environmental requirements of the regulations as well as being able to demonstrate the application of practical skills to successfully fabricate and examine pipework, undertake pressure testing, carry out safe evacuation and record completion, refrigerant charging, leak checking and recovery of refrigerants and oil and preparation for disposal.
Who is the course aimed at?
This course is aimed at both engineers working within the refrigeration industry and those looking to work in the industry.
The categories are as follows;
Category J11 - Leakage check, recovery, install, maintain and service all systems - 5 days (training and assessment)
Category J12 - Leakage check, recovery, install, maintain and service systems less than 3kg (6kg hermetically sealed) - 5 days (training and assessment)
Category J13 - Recovery of refrigerant of systems less than 3kg (6kg hermetically sealed) - 3 days (training and assessment)
Category J14 - Leakage check - 1 day (assessment)
PLEASE NOTE: The timescales given are for competent/experienced engineers. New entrants may require additional training which will will incur additional costs. Please contact S.W.A.A.T. for more details.
