BPEC Electricity for Plumbers
Introduction
This course is ideally suited for Plumbers and Heating engineers who would like to improve their knowledge of electrical fault finding on domestic heating systems
Course Objectives/Key Benefits
The course is not designed to turn plumbers/heating engineers into electricians, but to enhance the skills and knowledge required to maintain and repair central heating systems.
Who is the course aimed at?
Any plumbing or heating engineers wishing to carry out minor electrical tasks in connection with their work.
Entry Requirements/Pre-requisites
The pre-requisite for attending the course is that the person holds as a minimum ACS CCN1 and CEN1 or CENWAT1 certificates.

- Electrical systems
- Central heating control systems
- Central heating appliance components
- Wiring of S and Y plan Systems
- Faultfinding on S and Y plan Systems
- Utilising a multimeter to identify working and defective components

Theory and practical work
Assessment
Multiple-choice question paper and practical examination.
Course Outcome/Qualification
Candidates who successfully complete the assessment will receive a BPEC certificate of competence and will also be able to carry out work in accordance with the scope of this course.
However, if the work falls within the scope of Part P of the Building Regulations then the relevant qualification would be required, as well as membership to an appropriate competent persons scheme.
