Combustion Performance Analysis (CPA1)
Training and Assessment
Introduction
The assessment is designed to assess the competence of a registered installer who uses the combustion performance analyser when installing, commissioning, servicing or repairing gas appliances.
Course Objectives/Key Benefits
To provide knowledge and understanding of how to use an electronic combustion analyser for the purpose of commissioning and servicing domestic gas appliances, including condensing boilers, non-condensing boilers, gas cookers, gas fires and gas water heaters.
Who is the course aimed at?
Previously qualified gas operatives or anyone in the process of obtaining relevant ACS gas qualification.
Entry Requirements/Pre-requisites
Anyone undertaking the training and assessment should hold a current core domestic gas safety qualification (CCN1) or be in the process of working towards this.
Anyone wishing to undertake either the HTR1 (domestic natural gas fires) or CEN1 (domestic central heating boilers) assessment must also hold this qualification.

- What are CO, CO2, O2 and ratio?
- How to calculate ratio
- What figures should be obtained from a satisfactory appliance?
- What may prevent readings from being satisfactory?
- What to do if the readings are not satisfactory
- Care of the electronic combustion analyser

Course Outcome/Qualification
Candidates who successfully complete the assessment will receive a BPEC CPA1 domestic natural gas certificate under the ACS gas scheme.
