Commercial/Industrial Pipework Testing and Purging Training

Introduction

Course designed for both new entrants and experienced practitioners, to enable candidates to understand the concepts of testing and purging large pipework installations, including risk assessments and calculations.

Course Objectives/Key Benefits

On completion delegates will be able to demonstrate their safety awareness and competency in the contents of the course listed below in Natural Gas, LPG or Commercial Gas.

Who is the course aimed at?

Previously trained gas operatives, holding appropriate current gas qualifications

Entry Requirements/Pre-requisites

Anyone undertaking this course must hold a relevant and current core gas safety qualification.

Course content

  • Legislation and unsafe situations
  • Risk Assessment to TCPC1/1A (Tightness testing & direct purging of installation pipework not exceeding 1m³ in volume, 40 mbar pressure and 150mm diameter natural gas only)
  • Calculating testing and purging pressures and times
  • Undertaking testing and purging

Training Method

Practical workshop and theory.

Assessment

Candidates will be eligible to undertake the relevant commercial/industrial gas pipework assessments immediately following the training.

Course Outcome/Qualification

Recommendation for assessment under ACS.

Materials needed

It is recommended that candidates have an up-to-date Viper Gas Book, which is available direct from our office (01579 348544).

Materials provided

Candidates will be provided with training pack(s).
