Commercial/Industrial Gas Assessments

Introduction

South West Assessment and Training offer assessment for commercial gas installations and appliances.

Training and assessment is available for pipework installation, testing and purging, industrial heating appliances and commercial catering appliances.

Course Objectives/Key Benefits

To ensure candidates have the relevant knowledge, understanding and skills to competently work on industrial/commercial gas installations.

Who is the course aimed at?

Anyone who intends to work on industrial/commercial gas installations.

Entry Requirements/Pre-requisites

Any operatives undertaking these assessments must hold an appropriate industrial/commercial core gas safety qualification or relevant changeover qualification.

Course content

The following commercial/industrial gas assessments are available;

Commercial Natural Gas Safety (heating).
Pipework, ventilation, controls and flues,
This assessment or a changeover assessment must be completed by the operative prior to taking any other commercial assessment.

First Fix Commercial Pipework.
Installing pipework in excess of 35mm and testing up to 75mbar

ICPN1
ICPN1LS

Testing and Purging to IGE/UP/1 & IGE/UP/1A.
Testing and purging commercial gas installations

TPCP1 - tightness testing & purging of installation pipework exceeding 1m³ in volume, up to 16 bar operating pressure (natural gas) & 2 bar operating pressure for LPG.

TPCP1A - tightness testing and direct purging of installation pipework not exceeding 1m³ in volume, 40 mbar pressure and 150mm diameter natural gas only.

First Fix Commercial Appliances.
Installing commercial appliances and equipment

ICAE1

Indirect Fired Heating Appliances.
Installing, commissioning, servicing and fault-finding on indirect fired heating appliances

CIGA1

Direct Fired Heating Appliances.
Installing, commissioning, servicing and fault-finding on direct fired heating appliances

CDGA1

Radiant Plaque and Radiant Tube Heaters.
Installing, commissioning, servicing and fault-finding on radiant plaque and tube heaters

CORT1

Commercial Catering Gas Safety.
Pipework, ventilation and controls.
This assessment or a changeover assessment must be completed by the operative prior to taking any catering assessment.

CCCN1
CODC1

Commercial Catering Appliances.
Installing, commissioning, servicing and fault finding on catering appliances.

COMCAT1 = Open/Solid Top Ranges
COMCAT2 = Water Boilers (Pressure Type)
COMCAT3 = Deep Fat & Pressure Fryers
COMCAT4 = Fish & Chip Fryers (on-site assessment only)
COMCAT5 = Forced Draught Equipment (on-site assessment only)

Commercial Laundry.
Pipework, ventilation and controls.
This assessment, or a changeover assessment must be completed by the operative prior to taking any laundry assessment.

Laundry equipment.

CLE1

Commercial Mobile Catering Equipment.

Course Duration

The duration of the assessment depends on a several factors, including the number of assessments taken. Please contact S.W.A.A.T. on 01579 348544 and we will be able to provide guidelines of expected timescales.

Training Method

This is not a training course (assessment only). Anyone requiring training needs to consider undertaking either the Commercial Heating training course, Commercial Catering training course or Commercial Pipework training course.

Assessment

Practical assessment and multiple-choice question papers

Course Outcome/Qualification

Successful candidates will be able to work on the industrial/commercial installation types for which they have qualified.

Materials needed

It is recommended that candidates have an up-to-date Viper Gas Book, which is available direct from our office (01579 348544).
