Core LPG Initial Assessment (CCLP1)

Introduction

A pre-requisite assessment for all other appliance assessments and covers all aspects of gas safety and legislation.

Course Objectives/Key Benefits

To ensure required competency in order to join Gas Safe Register and mainly carry out LPG gas work.

Who is the course aimed at?

Anyone who has gained at least six months' experience with a suitably qualified and experienced gas operative, and has also successfully completed the Foundation Gas course or Fast Track Gas course.

Entry Requirements/Pre-requisites

Candidates should be experienced to Category 1 and provide evidence of this (either from previous certificates held or be Category 2 or 3 with portfolio evidence).

At least six months' experience with a suitably qualified and experienced gas operative, in addition to successful completion of the Foundation Gas course or Fast Track Gas course.

Course Content

Assessment of candidate's competency in demonstrating knowledge and practical ability to;

  • Install appropriate pipework
  • Let-by test
  • Tightness test
  • Purge
  • Identify installation faults
  • Follow manufacturer's instructions
  • Commission and service LPG gas appliances

...in addition to a number of other domestic natural gas safety related criteria.

Course Duration

Candidates should be able to satisfactorily complete the assessment within four days but it is recommended that five days are allowed for.

Training Method

This is not a training course (assessment only). Anyone requiring training needs to consider undertaking either the Foundation Gas course or Fast Track Gas course.

Assessment

Practical assessment and multiple choice question papers.

Course Outcome/Qualification

Core ACS gas qualification.

Packages including add-ons are available.

Add-ons for LPG;

HTRLP2 - LPG Closed-Flued Fires (i.e. Widney and Spinflo fires etc.)
HTRLP3 - LPG Fires (i.e. Truma caravan fires etc.)
WATLP2 - LPG Water Heaters (i.e. Carver Cascade 'under bench' water heaters etc.)
REFLP2 = LPG Refrigerators (i.e. Electrolux RM122 refrigerators etc.)
CKRLP1 = LPG Cookers (i.e. caravan hobs etc.)

Materials required

It is highly recommended that candidates have an up-to-date Viper Gas book, copies of which can be obtained from our office (01579 348544).
